WEDDING SUITS
Your wedding, your style
Three Ways to Be Tailored
Your wedding day asks more of a suit than any other occasion. It needs to look exceptional in photographs taken thirty years from now. It needs to feel effortless at ten in the morning and still look sharp at midnight. And it needs to feel completely, unmistakably yours.
At Edward George, wedding tailoring is some of the most personal work we do. Every groom, best man, and guest we dress gets the same attention — the right cloth, the right cut, the right fit. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is left to chance.
Whether you’re drawn to the full bespoke experience or stepping into tailoring for the first time, we offer three levels of craft — made-to-measure, semi-bespoke, and bespoke. Each one is a genuine investment in how you look and feel on the da
.
Cloth for the Season. Cut for the Occasion.
The right fabric makes as much difference as the cut itself.
For autumn and winter weddings, flannel, worsted wool, and tweed in deeper tones bring warmth and a classic, considered elegance. For spring, summer, and destination weddings abroad, lightweight wools, linen blends, and bamboo blends offer comfort without compromise — relaxed in feel, immaculate in finish.
Our jackets are shaped to flatter and built to move — structured shoulder line, high armholes, clean chest, and contoured lapels that sit perfectly on the body. A jacket you’ll want to wear long after the day itself.
Plan Ahead
During the spring and summer wedding season, please allow 10–12 weeks for your garment to be made. For bespoke, we’d recommend allowing a little more time.
Visit us at our Northleach showroom, or join us in London at Holland & Sherry, No.31 Savile Row on the first Thursday of every month. All appointments are private and entirely without pressure.
Morning Wear
For a traditional English wedding, morning wear remains the gold standard. A dark morning coat, striped or puppytooth trousers, and a considered waistcoat in a complementary tone. A well-chosen tie anchors the look — braces, a pocket square, and a buttonhole complete it.
We’d steer you away from the ascot. A tie, always.
Black Tie
A dinner jacket done properly is one of the most powerful things a man can wear. Classic black or midnight blue with satin or crossgrain silk lapels. A self-tied bow. Clean, considered details — cufflinks, braces, a pocket square that earns its place.
Or, for something with a little more personality, a velvet jacket in a deep jewel tone. Formal, but unmistakably your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Bespoke and Made-To-Measure wedding suits?
A Bespoke suit is crafted from scratch, taking numerous measurements and making a unique pattern for the wearer. Every detail, from fabric selection to fit, is designed to your exact specifications, making it the most luxurious and tailored option. Made-To-Measure suits, on the other hand, modify a pre-existing pattern based on your body measurements, with fewer fitting adjustments than Bespoke, but still offering a tailored fit. Bespoke suits allow for more customisation, while Made-To-Measure offers a balance between fit, personalisation, and cost. This choice depends on your desired level of craftsmanship and budget.
Why should I choose a Bespoke wedding suit?
A Bespoke wedding suit is the epitome of personalisation and craftsmanship. It allows you to create something completely unique to you—from fabric selection, lining, and buttons to the fit and silhouette. Each suit is handcrafted over multiple fittings to ensure it not only fits perfectly but also enhances your body’s natural lines. The end result is a one-of-a-kind garment that reflects your personality and will make you feel your best on your wedding day.
Is Made-To-Measure a good option for a wedding suit?
Yes — and at Edward George, our Made-To-Measure goes significantly further than the industry standard. While most tailors offer a machine-assembled, fused construction with limited options, our MTM includes full canvas construction and hand-sewn buttonholes as standard. These are techniques most tailors reserve exclusively for bespoke.
You still have full choice of fabric, lining, buttons and style, and the garment is cut to your exact measurements. For a wedding suit, this means a level of fit, structure and longevity that off-the-rack will never match — at a more accessible price point than our Semi-Bespoke and Bespoke options.
If you want to look exceptional on your wedding day without the full bespoke investment, our Made-To-Measure is an outstanding choice.
How long does it take to create a Bespoke wedding suit?
The process of creating a Bespoke suit usually takes 10-12 weeks, depending on the tailor and the number of fittings required. This timeline accounts for multiple rounds of fittings to perfect the fit and make any necessary adjustments. If you’re considering a Bespoke suit for your wedding, it’s important to start the process early to ensure the suit is ready in time.
What types of wedding suits should I consider for different seasons?
For spring, summer and those destination weddings, lighter fabrics like linen, silk-linen blends, and bamboo blends are ideal. They provide breathability and comfort in warm weather. For autumn or winter weddings, heavier fabrics like tweed, flannel, or wool offer warmth and a more structured look. You can also consider three-piece suits or double-breasted options for a more formal winter wedding. Your fabric choice should not only match the season but also reflect the formality of your wedding.
Can women get Bespoke or Made-To-Measure wedding suits?
Absolutely! Both Bespoke and Made-To-Measure suits are excellent options for women. A Bespoke suit offers the highest level of personalisation, allowing you to design every detail from scratch to fit your unique style and body shape. For those seeking a tailored fit with less customisation and much shorter time to complete, Made-To-Measure is a practical and affordable option. It can be adjusted to your body while still giving you the opportunity to choose fabrics and style details, offering an elegant and well-fitted look for your special day.
